In 2022, Lebo Mokoena founded "Soweto on Foot," a local tour operator company (nominated for the Soweto tourism awards year 2024 and 2025). Drawing from his extensive experience working with other tour operators, he established this venture to offer immersive walking tours that provide authentic insights into Soweto's vibrant neighborhoods.

Mokoena's commitment to tourism extends beyond guiding; he is also involved in storytelling and community engagement. His dedication to showcasing Soweto's heritage has made a positive impact on local tourism, offering visitors a unique perspective on the area's history and culture.

Through his work, Mokoena continues to promote understanding and appreciation of Soweto's legacy, contributing significantly to the preservation and celebration of South Africa's diverse cultural landscape.

Our host Lebo Mokoena was born in 1990 and raised by a single mother. He is a social entrepreneur and poet who has joined forces with James Kunene to host tours. James was born in 1991 and is a talented photographer and videographer who tells stories through the camera lens. Both Lebo and James share a passion for art and live music. They have hosted several events and also founded the Social Vibes live music sessions. Together with highlighting their passions, Lebo and James also give their views about politics and society in Soweto today.

Soweto on Foot offers immersive half-day walking tours that provide an authentic experience of Soweto's rich history and vibrant culture.

 These tours typically last around 3 to 4 hours and include a traditional lunch, allowing participants to engage deeply with the community and its heritage.
